William J. Oakley Jr.

William John Oakley Jr., Age 80 of Orange, CT (currently of West Haven) entered into eternal rest on February 18, 2018 at Milford Hospital. He was the beloved Husband of Eulogia Flores Oakley. He was born on January 14, 1938 to the late William J. and Esther Todd Oakley Sr.
William was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He was raised in Hamden, CT until moving to Orange in the early 1950s. He was among the first graduating class of Amity High School in 1956. He was employed by Hamden Public Works, Asplundh Tree Service and Lewis Tree Service from which he retired in 2000. He was an avid fly fisherman who also enjoyed trapping and hunting throughout his life. His passion was model ship building. His award winning ship models are currently on display at the West Haven Veterans Museum.
Besides his wife of 51 years he is survived by three sons, William J. Oakley III of West Haven, Edward (Patricia) Oakley of Oxford and Steve (Sharon) Oakley of Orange. He is also survived by his sister Norene (Herbert) Hunt of Orange and his six grandchildren, Jennifer, Jillian, Brooke, Ashley, Brianna and Ryan and two nephews Jonathon and Christopher Hunt.
Family and friends may visit the Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven Thursday February 22, 2018 from 4 pm – 7 pm. Funeral home services will be Friday February 23, 2018 11 am with burial to follow at Orange Cemetery.
