William B. Bergers

William B. Bergers, age 90, of North Branford, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a 28 year courageous battle against cancer. He was the beloved husband of the late Marguerite O’Brien Bergers. William was born on July 2, 1928 to the late William and Mary Medwesky Bergers.

William was a United States Army Veteran serving in Korea and stationed in Japan. He was an HVAC engineer for 43 years working for the W.J. Dornfeld Company in East Haven, CT. He was ordained as a Roman Catholic Deacon in 1980 and served proudly at St. Monica Church in Northford, CT. He loved his yearly trips to Bermuda and St. Martin.  Most of all he loved his family and looked forward to their holiday gatherings.  He was an amazing father to his children.

He is survived by his three children, Barbara (Robert) Scalise of Madison, William (Marilyn) Bergers of Clinton, and Marguerite(Peggy) Bergers of North Branford,  one brother, James Bergers of Florida, four grandchildren, Ryan Scalise, Christopher Bergers, Matthew Bergers and Joseph Bergers, and three great grandchildren, Rayna, Ryker and Ayla.  He is predeceased by his siblings Robert Bergers, Rosemary Giorando and Gloria Bergers.

A special thank you goes out to Dr. Kay Haedicke for her extraordinary care since 1990 and to CT Hospice of Branford for their compassionate care during the last few months.

Family and friends may visit Keenan Funeral Home, 330 Notch Hill Road, North Branford Monday, September 17, 2018 from 9:30 am – 11:30 am.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Monica Church, Northford at 12:00 pm.  Interment  immediately following at All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Avenue, North Haven.
