Tribute

Thomas C. Slater, age 53, of East Haven passed away on June 9, 2019 at Griffin Hospital after a long illness.  He was the beloved husband of Sandra Bourgeois.  Thomas was born on December 8, 1965 to Irene Brewer Slater of East Haven and the late Donald R. Slater. 

Thomas was a local cook who worked on the shoreline at Friendly’s and the Guilford House.  He loved animals and fresh water fishing.  Thomas enjoyed spending time at Branford Point and the Guilford dock.  He enjoyed watching sports including wrestling and routing on the NY Yankees, New England Patriots and Golden State Warriors. 

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by one sister, Donna (Patrick) Slater-Trefny of Guilford, his uncle and godfather, Dr. Charles Slater and several cousins.  He will be sadly missed. 

Family and friends may visit Keenan Funeral Home, 330 Notch Hill Road, North Branford, on Friday, June 14, 2019 from 9 am – 10:30 am with a Memorial Mass following at St. Augustine Church, 30 Caputo Road, North Branford at 11am.  Interment at All Saints Cemetery, Middletown Avenue, North Haven. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, 103 Vision Way, Bloomfield, CT 06602 or your local Diabetes Chapter.
