Theresa M. Ahl, age 91, of North Branford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 11, 2021.
Theresa was born in Clifton, New Jersey on December 29, 1929, the first child of the late Angelo & Alba Andreotta. She attended Clifton High School, followed by Paterson Commercial College (now William Paterson University). After graduation, she was employed by Du Mont Laboratories.
She was the beloved wife of the late Walter W. Ahl, to whom she was married for 33 years. Theresa and Walter made their home in Franklin Lakes, NJ. She was employed for over 25 years by L. Bamberger & Co. in Paramus, NJ. Later, she was an administrative assistant in the principal’s office of the Colonial Road Elementary School in Franklin Lakes, NJ until her retirement in 1994. She relocated to North Branford, CT in 2012 to be closer to her daughter. She was a much-loved resident of Evergreen Woods. The United Methodist Church, Branford welcomed Theresa to their congregation.
Theresa was part of a close group of friends from Clifton High School. They formed a social club called “The Swingettes” and continued to meet monthly after graduating. A G-clef was the club’s logo and used on matching sweaters and bracelets. They shared visits, vacations, secret pals, and other activities.
Known as “the lady in pink,” Theresa was an active member of the Franklin Lakes Senior Citizens Club and loved to travel. Her Northern Italian heritage was an important part of her life. She was a talented crafter, creating beautiful Christmas ornaments. She was known as “Tess” to her family and “Terry” to her friends.
Theresa is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Lynda & Mark Gluch of Grosse Ile, MI and daughter and son-in-law Lori & Michael Cartwright of Guilford, CT. She also leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Louis & Nancy Andreotta; nieces Gale Auclair, Laurel Long, and Rachel Andreotta; and nephews Michael Andreotta and Craig Andreotta.
