Teodoro V. Duarte, age 89, of West Haven, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was the beloved husband of the late Isabel Nogueira Duarte. Teodoro was born in Montalegre, Portugal on May 9, 1930 to the late Teodoro A. Duarte and Ana Fraga.
“Papa T” had many interests ranging from being an accomplished accordion player to wine making. He was an avid gardener and was best known for the beautiful tomatoes he grew. He enjoyed soccer, playing dominoes with his friends and family, and had a love and vast knowledge of world geography; an interest he passed down to his children and grand-children.
He is survived by his six children, Maria Lamothe, Fernando Texeria Duarte, Manuel Duarte, Tina Catarino, Lidia Silva, and Theodore J. Duarte. He also leaves behind thirteen grand-children, and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife Isabel, Teodoro was preceded in death by one brother, and two sisters.
Family and friends may visit Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm St, West Haven, on Saturday November 23rd from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday November 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Lawrence Church, 207 Main St, West Haven. Interment will be Private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a charitable donation be made in Teodoro's name to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd, Branford.
