Stanley L. Johnson Sr.

Stanley L. Johnson Sr., 89, lifetime resident of West Haven, Connecticut passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017 peacefully with his family by his side. Born Oct. 21, 1928 in New Haven, Connecticut, Stanley Johnson, AKA “Mr. J”, was predeceased by the love of his life, Beverlee Reed Johnson, whom he met while racing stock cars at Savin Rock in the 50s. His parents Leon and Esther, and sisters Bobbie and Tilly also predeceased him. He leaves behind his daughter Beverlee Johnson Delaney (David Delaney) of Greenwich, CT, and son Stanley Johnson Jr. (Kathy Johnson) of West Haven, CT, and numerous friends and relatives. Stanley was a master carpenter prior to his retirement. He spent many years supporting and following the drum corp circuit Seasiders, Cyclones, and Shorelines, which his two children were involved in for many years. He has resided at RegalCare at Greenwich for the past five years. Friends may visit the Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm St., West Haven, on Saturday Dec. 2, 2017 from 9-10 a.m. with a funeral home service to begin at 10 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
