Sabatino (Sam) Troiano, age 90 of North Branford passed away Sunday evening, October 28, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Amelia Frione Troiano. Sam was born on May 24, 1928 to the late Ciro and Jennie Ventrano Troiano.
Sam retired after 28 years from Tilcon Tomasso as an Operating Engineer. He was the original owner of the Giant Oak Package Store in North Branford which he owned for 25 years. He loved to grow vegetables in his garden and give them away to his family and friends. He loved his John Deere tractors and belonged to the CT Draft Pony Association and the Knights of Columbus. He was a sports enthusiast and huge fan of the Yankees and the Giants. Sam loved to cook and every Sunday made the best sauce for dinners with family. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Augustine Church. North Branford has lost a good friend.
Besides his wife of 64 years, Sam is survived by his 3 children Gino (Nancy) Troiano of Middlefield, Sandra T. Moore of Vernon, VT, Sherri (Stephen) Scavo of North Branford, one brother Gaetano (Vivian) Troiano of North Branford, one sister Angelina Conte of North Branford, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is predeceased by two brothers, Gino and Pasquale Troiano.
Family and friends may visit Keenan Funeral Home, 330 Notch Hill Road, Thursday, November 1 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 2 at St. Augustine Church, 30 Caputo Road, N. Branford at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Route 1, Branford.
