Robert Halstead Barry, age 86, of West Haven, CT passed away peacefully surrounded by his family April 4, 2023 at the West Haven VA Hospital. He was born in New Haven, CT on April 25, 1936 to the late John and Mabel Barry.
Bob played baseball, and hockey at West Haven High School. He also played twilight baseball, and fast pitch softball for West End Market. He was known for hitting the monument with a home run in Noyes Field! Bob was a Lance Corporal for the United States Marine Corp. which he proudly served. He worked for Ironworkers Local 424 in New Haven, CT for over 30 years. He enjoyed going to Whalers and Mets games with his son Robert, and he loved cooking, gardening, working out at the gym, and loved sports especially the NY Giants & NY Mets.
Bob is survived by his son Robert John Barry. His grandchildren Logan Robert Barry, step-granddaughter Allia Wheeler, and their mother Elaine Wheeler. His daughters Lisa Savoy from Florida, and Robin Penny from New York. His stepchildren Karen and Carolyn Montz of West Haven.
Bob is predeceased by his parents John and Mabel Barry, his wife Joyce Francis Holland Barry, and his brother Jack Barry.
Bob loved his family, and had a good life. He loved spending time with his grandson Logan. He will be greatly missed.
