Richard A. Paterson

Richard A. Paterson, age 83 of West Haven passed away Sunday December 3 at CT Hospice in Branford.  He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley (Paranto) Paterson. Rich was born in New Haven on July 7, 1934 to the late Thomas and Gladys Paterson.

Rich was a U.S. Veteran serving in the Army.  He retired from the West Haven Police Department after serving 25 years.  He was a well known ball player on local teams and a sports fan cheering on the Red Sox and Patriots.  Most of all he was a great dad, he will be sadly missed.

Besides his late wife of over 50 years, he is survived by his two daughters Linda Knapp of NJ and Karen Paterson of West Haven.  He is also survived by his brother Royal Paterson of West Haven and four grandchildren Melissa, Thomas, Christina and Joshua. Rich is predeceased by his son Richard who passed away in 1999.

Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in West Haven.
