Richard William Bayley, of Durham, entered into eternal rest on January 8, 2021. Richard was born on June 11, 1950 in Middletown, The son of the late William A. Bayley and Joan Lawton Bayley. He is survived by his sister Christina Kuhlwein (Frank) of Danbury, his brother Gregory M. Bayley (Dolores) of Illinois, a niece Kimberly Bayley (Samantha) of Stamford, a nephew Brian Bayley (Katie) of Arizona, a devoted cousin Marilou Elles of North Branford, and a large extended loving family. He always took delight in planning special gifts for family members at Christmas and on birthdays, and worked tirelessly to complete his numerous projects. He believed in eating dessert before dinner, was a Trivial Pursuit and Jeopardy master, and was definitely one of a kind; he will be missed by all who knew him.
Richard was the sole owner of Subway in Guilford for forty-three years. Something like…he made it his life’s work to provide quality food in a friendly environment, greeting customers by name. He was also known for his participation in the Guilford community and was always ready to give back in appreciation of community support. After his retirement from Subway, he served as a volunteer for Guilford Meals on Wheels and Meigs Point Nature Center.
Keenan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and the family will have a private service at a later date. Friends may offer condolences on the funeral home website, www.Keenanfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, Richard’s family asks that any charitable donations be made to Guilford Interfaith Volunteers, 310 State St, Guilford, CT.
