Neil MacDonald Meighan

Born in Lochwinnoch, Scotland to Joan and Neil Meighan, Neil MacDonald Meighan, age 63, died on February 28th at his home in West Haven. He was a US Navy veteran working at the Hartford Vet Center where he supported the center’s mission to help veterans and families in need of readjustment counseling. Neil is survived by family members Tracy, Sean and Connor Meighan; Joan and Stephen Rimar; Elizabeth and Timothy Callahan; Christine and John Cosgrove; Brian Sherry and Raymond Normoyle. He was predeceased by has parents and siblings Stephen Meighan and Frances Stephenson.

Neil enjoyed sports - particularly golf, soccer, and skiing - as a participant and fan. And like his mom, he could speak with anyone about any subject. “Uncle Neil” thoroughly enjoyed conversations at holidays when family and friends of all sorts, from near and far, gathered to celebrate. We will greatly miss him.

Neil’s family would like to thank members of the Veteran Administration for the exceptional care and kind treatment they gave him over the last few years. Staff in the dialysis unit, medical intensive care unit, and emergency department, along with other nurses, physicians and personnel were exemplary. Neil’s colleagues at the Hartford Vet’s Center where he worked were also extremely important to him. He greatly appreciated their friendship.
