Mary Starbuck Payne, 74, of West Haven passed away peacefully, March 8, 2019.
Mary was born April 12, 1944 in New Bedford, MA. to the late Dr. George W. Starbuck II and the late Rachel Haskell Closson.
Mary was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She worked many years as a nanny for families in Utah and New Jersey. She especially enjoyed genealogy research and developing family trees for family and friends.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Pammella Starbuck, niece Heather Parlee, grand-nieces Rachael Parlee and Katherine Yarrow. Also, nephews Robert Yarrow, George W. Starbuck IV (Bill), Robert Starbuck, Michael Starbuck, grand-nephews Corey Starbuck, Matthew Starbuck and Joshua Parlee.
In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her son Elmer Palmer Payne Jr., brother George W. Starbuck III, sister Roxanna Yarrow and step-mother Virginia Starbuck.
In addition to the surviving family, Mary leaves her close friend and neighbor, 3 cats and her 70+ year old turtle “Jewell”.
Calling hours will be Friday March 29 at Keenan Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m.
A Service will be held Saturday March 30, 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 990 Racebrook Rd, Woodbridge, Connecticut 06525
Burial will be private.
