Tribute

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marjorie Johanna Blake (Marge) on Monday, September 26, 2022 in Whitney Manor in Hamden, CT after a brief illness.  Marjorie was pre-deceased by her sister, Ursula Deneen Keenan of Stratford, CT as well as her late husband William T. Blake.  She is survived by her three sons, William T. Blake Jr. (Mary Lea) of Ocala, FL, Richard A. Blake (Catherine) of Ellenton, FL and David J. Blake (Linda) of East Haven, CT and five grandchildren, Cynthia Morin, Heather Smith, Ashley Blake, Geoffrey Blake and Leah Blake.  Marjorie was born on March 2, 1925 in Sharon, CT to Richard Deneen and Ursula Cordon Deneen.  Marge grew up in Lakeville, CT and Millerton, NY before eventually moving with her family to Waterbury, CT.  Marjorie was a graduate of Wilby High School in Waterbury and subsequently employed by Southern New England Telephone where she met and married her late husband, William Thomas Blake in 1951.  Bill and Marge Blake moved to West Haven in the mid-1950’s and were deeply involved in the lives of their sons in school, sports and social activities.  Marge was a member of the Our Lady of Victory Ladies Club and the Treasurer of the Notre Dame Mothers Club.  Marjorie worked for the West Haven school system at Giannoti Middle School, secretary for the West Haven City Council and eventually was elected as Tax Collector for multiple terms for the City of West Haven.  Marge enjoyed nothing more than family summer vacations on Cape Cod as well as hosting family and friends for picnics, parties and holiday get-togethers.  After her retirement, Marge became a snowbird and enjoyed her winters in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida and her summers at West Walk in West Haven with her partner, the late Albert “Scrap” Camerato of West Haven.  Marge's favorite moments were enjoying great times with her family and the many friends she made over the years both in Florida and West Haven. Family and friends are invited to visit the Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm St. West Haven, Thursday October 6, from 8:30am to 9:30am.
