Marie A. Severino

Marie P. Severino, age 86, of North Branford passed away peacefully on March 2, 2021 at Gladeview Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Old Saybrook.  She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Severino.  Marie was born in New Haven on March 14, 1934 to the late Ernest and Emma (Brockett) Piombino.

Marie worked in the North Branford High School cafeteria.  She went on to be the co-owner and operator of the Bridal Loft in Hamden for many years along with her partner June Page.  In addition to managing the bridal shop, she worked as a seamstress and made the uniforms for the CT Blues Fife & Drum Corps.  She was an avid reader and a great cook.  Her greatest accomplishment was being a Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Michael Severino of Pike, NH, Ann (Ralph) McKusick of North Branford,  Steven (Linda) Severino of Killingly, and David (Dita Varleta) McDonald of Essex..  She also leaves behind her five grandchildren Tricia Nevard, Melissa Trofatter, Jason McKusick, Ian Severino, and Adam Heon as well as six great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her three siblings, Ruth Caliendo, Emma Handolwich, and twin brother Ernest Piombino as well as her two grandchildren Jeffrey McKusick and Sarah Severino. 

Family and friends may visit Keenan Funeral Home, 330 Notch Hill Road, North Branford, on Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine Church at 11:00 a.m.  Interment to follow at Northford Cemetery.
