On Monday, September 24, 2018, Margaret (Peggy) Tarnoczy (Doherty), mother of three and grandmother of four peacefully passed after a brief illness at the age of 75.
Peggy was born on October 26, 1942 in Bridgeport, CT to Howard and Margaret (Chizmadia) Doherty. She raised two sons, Stephen and Shawn, and one daughter, Dana. Peggy was a 27 year employee of Stop & Shop, first working as a cashier and later as a data entry specialist.
Peggy was a lifelong resident of the shoreline, living in Fairfield County during her childhood and young adulthood and later in Milford and West Haven. She was an avid reader and a member of a longtime book club. Peggy loved music, especially country. She regularly attended weekly Saturday luncheons at the Savin Rock Roasting Company where all around her were blessed with and enjoyed her art of conversation which often ended in a moment of laughter. Peggy was proud of her Irish and Hungarian Heritage, which she shared with those she loved and cared about. The highlight of her week and most recent joy was the time spent with her twin grandsons whom she adored. Peggy boastfully talked to everyone about how much they captivated her heart and made her soul smile.
Peggy was predeceased by her father, Howard and her mother, Margaret. She is survived by her sister, Linda Forte, of Bridgeport, CT. Peggy was also predeceased by her beloved fiancé, Patrick Marino. She will be dearly missed by her family; son Stephen of Moore, Oklahoma, daughter Dana Lynn Goldberg and her husband Anthony, of Plainville, and son Shawn of Plainville; grandchildren Christin, Joshua, Noah, and Branden, along with a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
