January 5, 1953 ~ March 20, 2020 (age 67) 67 Years Old

Tribute

Margaret Louise Brooks, age 67, of Branford passed away on March 20, 2020 at home with her beloved husband, Keith Brooks by her side. She was born on January 5, 1953 at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City and raised in Harlem. She attended Andrew Jackson High School. She was the daughter of the late Cynthia Pinckney- Nichols and David E Stenbar.

Margaret was employed as a medical record analyst at Jamaica Hospital in Queens, NY from 1989-2013. She then retired to enjoy being a florist. She had a unique flair and style for creating beautiful arrangements for all occasions. She volunteered at the Branford soup kitchen where she was on the frontline serving meals to those in need. Margaret also volunteered at the polls during the elections.  Being able to serve people brought her great pleasure in life.

Margaret was such a vibrant personality, filled with joy from the Lord and she had a beautiful, contagious smile. She really enjoyed dressing up and looking glamorous. She firmly believed that if you look good on the outside, you feel good on the inside. She shared many adventures with her husband Keith-Trying new restaurants, foods, and traveling were always on the top of her list. Two of her favorite vacation spots were Newport and Providence Rhode Island. She was an amazing cook and would always try different recipes. There wasn’t a day that would go by without her making her smoothies. She would use all sorts of vegetables, fruits, and herbs. Everyone who was in her presence that day had to try a smoothie, and they would always love it.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her only son Jason Stenbar and his wife Lorraine. She also leaves behind her beautiful, beloved grandchildren, Charlize, Ciera, Jason Jr., Liam and Tristan. She will be dearly missed by her siblings, One Brother, David A Stenbar (Pat), and her sister, Susan Stenbar-Clarke.  Margaret was preceded in death by her sister Davena Horton. She was lovingly cared for from the beginning of her journey to her transition home with the Lord by her beloved best friends Eula-May and Anthony E. Morris, and she will be greatly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.  A memorial service and celebration of life for Margaret’s friends and family will be celebrated at a later date.
