Luz Stella Zapata

Luz Stella Zapata, 54, of West Haven, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 16, 2017.  Born January 21, 1963 in Caicedonia, Colombia, she was the daughter of Ligia Guzman and the late Guillermo Rios.

She is survived by her loving husband of 20+ years, Cesar Zapata; two children, Gina Alzate of Sterling, VA, and Christian Zapata of West Haven, CT; sister, Mirgen Sakamoto; brother, James Rios; two grandchildren, Nataly and Nicole Alzate; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Those who were closest to her will remember Stella as a sweet, loyal, kind, generous, happy and loving person. She had a passion for cooking and entertaining all her family and friends. Stella had a profound love for her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed dancing and gardening. Stella was the heart of the family. She leaves us with many wonderful memories and will be truly missed.

Memorial services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at St. Louis Church, 89 Bull Hill Ln., West Haven, CT 06516. Reception will follow in the church hall after mass.

Nacida el 21 de enero, 1963, en Caicedonia, Colombia. Hija de Ligia Guzman y Guillermo Rios. 

Es sobrevivida por su amado esposo de mas de 20 años, Cesar Zapata; dos hijos, Gina Alzate de Sterling, VA, y Christian Zapata de West Haven, CT; hermana, Mirgen Sakamoto; hermano, James Rios; sus dos nietas, Nataly y Nicole Alzate; sobrinos, familia y amigos extendidos. 

Los mas allegados a ella recordaran a Stella como una persona dulce, leal, amable, generosa, feliz y amorosa.  Su gran pasion fue cocinar y entretener a toda su familia y amigos.  Stella tuvo un amor profundo por sus hijos, nietas y sobrinos.  Disfrutaba bailar y la jardinería.  Stella fue el corazon de la familia.  Nos deja con recuerdos maravillosos y la extrañaremos inmensamente. 

La misa se llevara a cabo el miercoles, 22 de noviembre, 2017 en La Iglesia San Louis, 89 Bull Hill Lane, West Haven, CT 06516.  Una recepcion seguira en el salon de la iglesia despues de la misa.
