Luigi Furno, age 89, of Middletown passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Autumn Lakes Healthcare in Cromwell. He was the beloved husband of Maria Angelina Rotondi Furno. Luigi was born in Benevento, Italy on July 24, 1932 to the late Fiorentino and Angelina Furno.
He was a retired machinist from North and Judd in Middletown, CT. Luigi was a true family man. He loved making wine from his own grapes which he brought from Italy and grew in his backyard, along with his vegetable garden. He was a fixture in Middletown and could often be seen walking down Main Street to his daily shopping and errands. Middletown has lost a good friend and neighbor.
Besides his wife of 68 years, he leaves behind his two children, Vincent (Trudy) Furno of Florida and Maria Furno-Appell of Middletown. He also is survived by his five grandchildren, Karl (Stephanie) Furno of Florida, Kurt (Erica) Furno of Alabama, Spencer, Emily and Elisabeth Appell of Middletown, CT and one great grandson, William Furno.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church, 79 S. Main Street, Middletown Wednesday December 22, at 9am. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Middletown.
