Lois M. Hewston

Lois M. Hewston, age 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on August 17, 2021 at Masonicare in Wallingford.  Lois was born on March 22, 1927 in Oil City, PA to the late Vernon M. and Clara A. (Pierce) Rodgers.  She was the beloved wife of the late Arnold Hewston. 

Lois is survived by her children David (Nancy) Hewston of West Haven, Melvin (Ruth) Hewston of Wallingford, Bruce Hewston of Virginia and Paul (Kathy) Hewston of Florida.  She leaves behind twelve grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.  She is predeceased by two brothers, Vernon and Clayton Rodgers and one sister, Phyllis Jacoby.

Lois was a devoted wife, homemaker and mother.  During her life she was a foster mother to 27 children.  She was a member of Eastern Star, a life member of VFW Auxiliary, member of the First Baptist Church of West Haven and a member of Civil Defense Radiology Society.  Lois will be remembered for her gentle, giving soul and will be sadly missed.

Family and friends may visit Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven on Monday, August 23, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.  A service will take place at 11:00 a.m.  Interment to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, West Haven.
