Laura Nora Fanning

Laura (Martel) Fanning, 94, of Bradenton, FL, formerly of West Haven and Madison, CT, died peacefully after a long illness on Oct. 4. She was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Exoria (Gallichant) Martel and wife to the late Robert F. Fanning, Sr.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert F. Fanning, Jr, a sister, Jane Lyden, and two brothers, Silva and Francis Martel. She is survived by her brother, Maurice Martel of Northford, CT. Laura was born on September 27, 1924 in North Grosvenordale, CT. She leaves behind six children: Karen (Fred) Jacobs, of Sarasota, FL; Susan (Don) Hurley, of Morganton, NC; Michele Fanning, of Sanibel Island, FL; Celeste Lavoie, of Sarasota, FL; Michael (Amie) Fanning, of Clinton, CT; and Shawn (Susan) Fanning, of Branford, CT. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

She will be buried at All Saints Cemetery beside her husband in a private ceremony for family.
