Joseph Bonilla, age 63, of New Haven passed away after a short illness on June 9, 2019 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 35 years to Minerva Alers Bonilla. He was born in Bronx, NY on February 17, 1956 to Joseph lll and Gladys (Correa) Bonilla.
Joseph was an experienced carpenter for over 40 years and was recently working at Conn Acoustics, Inc. of Newington. Joseph, a man of God, enjoyed listening to gospel music and reading the bible. He was a member of Kingdom Life Christian Church in Milford for over 10 years and was part of Every Man A Warrior. He also loved spending time with his family, fishing, working on cars and playing dominos with his in-laws. He was much loved by family and friends.
Besides his wife and parents, Joseph is survived by his three children, Joseph O.(Jillian) Bonilla of Long Island, NY, Christopher (Rachel) Bonilla of Prospect, CT, and Brian (Bianca) Bonilla of New Haven, three brothers, Walter (Maureen) Bonilla, Robert (Sherry) Bonilla and Matthew Bonilla and two sisters, Roseanna Amador and Carolyn (Tito) Amador, all of Long Island, NY. He also leaves behind his three granddaughters, one grandson on the way and many nephews and nieces.
Family and friends may visit Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven on Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 4 pm – 7 pm, with a memorial service at 7 pm. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven, Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 11am.
