John Patrick Egan (Jack, aka Apple Jack), age 87, of West Haven passed peacefully on October 14, 2021 at the Masonic Home in Wallingford. Jack was born in New Haven on June 18, 1934 and is now reunited with his parents John and Mary(Woods) Egan, his three sisters "Betty" (Ross), "Winnie" (Allen) and "Franny" (Evarts), life long friend Robert Brown and beloved pets Brady and Gizmo.
Jack will be sadly missed by his wife Gail (McHugh) Egan as they shared many years together enjoying fine cuisine, annual ocean cruises and hosting many dinner parties at their home. Jack and his wife loved to cook and were excellent Chefs.
Jack will also be missed by his four children, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Son Brian Egan, his daughter Sabrina and her children Gunner and Casandra. Daughter Diane Egan D'Andrea, her children Brittani with her son Logan and Kevin (Ange DiGioia D'Andrea ) with their daughter Mia; Son Glenn (Sherri Cacioppo) Egan and their son Ryan; Daughter Lori (Kevin Legassey) Egan and their children Kalle and Jaden. He also leaves long time friend Barry Healey and his wife Kathy.
Anyone meeting Jack quickly realizes he is a jokester, with his Irish wit, sarcasm accompanied by a contagious laugh. Jack was very social and possessed a laid back demeanor, he was a master in shooting the breeze with everyone he came in contact with. Years ago Jack enjoyed traveling to his second home in Myrtle Beach, a special trip to Ireland and as earlier mentioned annual ocean cruises with his wife and their group of “cruizin' friends. Jack enjoyed many beautiful days on his Sail boat, as well as a few horrific sails ending with the assistance of the coast guard :).
Jack attended Notre Dame High School and was very athletic in Basketball & Baseball. After High School he joined and served in the Army. Jack was stationed in Germany but claimed the most beautiful place he visited was Spain!
Jack's early career as a sales representative for home improvement projects at Sears most importantly resulted in long time friends and secondly improved his “setback” skills from the many card games played over the years in the break room.
