Jean A. Brown

Jean A. Brown, age 72, of West Haven, passed away Monday November 12, 2018 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Jean was born February 7, 1946 in Bridgeport, CT to the late John and Ruth (Muzzreall) Kane Sr. She was the devoted wife and widow of the late William Brown, Sr., married forty years.  

Jean dedicated her life to caring for her family, and worked as a Unit Secretary at St Vincents Hospital until she retired and moved to Mineville, NY where she lived for many years until  returning to CT.  Jean leaves behind 2 sons, William Brown Jr. (Bonnie Rock) of Beekmantown, NY (West Chazy) and Edward Brown Sr. and his wife Teneika, in Bridgeport. Jean also leaves behind 8 cherished grandchildren, Holly (Mark Stemphowski Jr.), Christopher, Edward Jr., Joey, Fallon, Dominique, Chardonnay, and Autumn . She also has 5 great-grandchildren Olivia, Chase, Naz’aire, Kaiden and Jay'onni, and several nieces and nephews. Also, her beloved dog Molly.  She was predeceased by her youngest son Patrick Brown and his twin sons, her brother John Kane and sisters Mary Nowack and Anne Grimes.

Mother Brown was a good catholic woman that enjoyed reading, baking, crocheting, and all things Irish. She was a proud Irish grandmother typical in wit and humor. Jean fought sickness  and tragedies in her life with fierce bravery and fire, and they never shook her faith in God. No matter how big her obstacles were, Jean always found a way through them with a smile on her face and a funny story to tell. 

Family and friends may visit Keenan Funeral Home, Thursday November 15 from 5pm-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Lawrence Church, Friday November 16, 10am followed by burial at St. Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven.
