James Donnelly

James R. Donnelly age 83 passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at CT Hospice in Branford. 
Beloved husband of Maureen Kellaher Donnelly.  James was born in New Haven on June 9, 1939 to the
late Raymond J. and Marjorie Korn Donnelly.  James worked at the United States Post Office as a clerk in
New Haven and West Haven retiring at age 63.  He was a huge baseball fan always rooting for the
Brooklyn Dodgers.  He was very dedicated to his family.  He was a man of integrity and very honest. 

James was a religious man, and proud of his deep faith.  James was also well known for his sweet tooth
and his dislike of ties. Please feel free to not wear a tie in his honor. Besides his wife, he is survived by
his three children; James (Lori) Donnelly of Wallingford, Carrie (Will) Creech of Enfield, and Sheri
(Bernard) Valentin of Long Beach, NY.  He is also survived by his sister Sharyn Lockwood of Hamden, and
four grandchildren; Isabel and Lydia Donnelly, and Sophia and Jack Valentin.  A very special thank you to
all his nieces and nephews especially Kellie, Robert and Sean, and his faithful companion Tango.  A big
thank you to all his doctors and nurses for all the expert care over the last couple of months.  For all the
non-believers, Covid is real. 

Family and friends may visit Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm St., West Haven, Tuesday, September 20 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 21, 10 a.m. St. Louis Church, West Haven. 

Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CT Hospice in Branford.
