James E Datcher Sr. born April 7th 1967 in Bridgeport, CT, passed away May, 13th due to complications from Covid 19. Jim was an extremely compassionate, loving, and caring man, who delighted in service to others. In spite of medical challenges he was a dedicated hard worker. Jim was recently employed by Veyo, doing medical transportation. Predeceased by father Calvin Henderson Datcher, mother, Leah E. Fletcher Datcher, brother, Calvin Datcher, and grandson Erick Mead. He is survived by brother, Brian Datcher of New Haven, his children, James Datcher Jr. of Maryland, Emily Datcher of New Hampshire, Hannah Grosbeck of New York and Therese Purdue of West Haven, Grandsons Steven Purdue, Nathaniel Purdue, and Emmanuel James Purdue all of West Haven, as well as his loving wife of 18 years Judith Dacunto, close family members Jiman Brown, Arline Nutter, Craig Cavallaro, Keith Cavallaro, and Deneen Datcher and many more family members and friends.
Jim enjoyed his favorite music, staying in his camper in New Hampshire and traveling to visit family. He was a kid at heart, going to amusement parks, especially Six Flags, and playing video games with his beloved grandsons. He loved animals especially his Chihuahua pup. He loved to discover new experiences and was eternally curious.
He was a friend of Bill's and served on the executive board for the 12 Steps Club of West Haven. He embraced recovery and touched the hearts of many. Jim was always ready to extend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Jim's gentle soul will be missed, but never forgotten.
