Hugh R. Morris, 93, of North Branford entered peacefully into eternal rest on February 15, 2021 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was the loving husband of 67 years to Mary Korn Morris. Born on December 5, 1927, he was the son of the late George and Margaret Morris.
He graduated from Boardman Trade School in New Haven. A proud disabled American Veteran, he honorably served in both the U.S. Army and Navy during WWII. After his military service, he worked as a field engineer at the United Illuminating Company for 38 years, also serving as Union President. He was a devoted, active member of Zion Episcopal Church of North Branford and a member of the American Legion Post 0076.
Hugh loved spending time with his many dear friends and was always willing to help out anyone in need. He was proud of his family, especially his grandchildren and was always there cheering them on.
In addition to his wife Mary, Hugh leaves to cherish his memory, his loving children, Paul (Jeanie) Morris of Boise, Idaho, Patricia (John) Ficocelli of North Haven and Thomas (Donna) Morris of Dixmont, Maine. He was the beloved grandfather of Christopher (Tara) Ficocelli, Michael (Jordan) Ficocelli, Jennifer (Al) Mauro, Calyx Morris and Sgt. Drew T. Morris, 2nd Battalion 5th Marines. He also leaves his six adored great-grandchildren, Avery, Declan, Emersyn, Camden, Carter and Landon, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Margaret, George, and Ronald Morris.
Funeral services will be private. Interment with military honors will be held at All Saints Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date when social gatherings will be safe for everyone. Keenan Funeral Home, North Branford is in charge of the arrangements.
