Herbert H. Roessler
February 3, 1932 ~ May 6, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years OldShare Tribute:
Herbert H. Roessler, 85, of Northford passed away on May 6, 2017 at Yale-New Haven Hospital following a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Audrey (Whalen) Roessler. He was born on February 3, 1932 to the late Heinrich and Sophie (Siebert) Roessler.
Herb was a veteran of the US Air Force, where he served during the Korean War. After his time in the service, he worked for SNET, where he was an installer and repairman until he retired after 40 years. After retiring, he and Audrey spent the winter months at their home in Punta Gorda, FL. During the summer they lived at their cottage in Mansfield Grove, East Haven. Herb loved to tinker with old cars or anything that he could fix. For the past twenty-five years, he would meet his buddies from SNET every Tuesday at Panera Bread for coffee and conversation. A special thank you goes out to Herb’s buddies Frank and Rick. He was proud of his membership as an Elk at the New Haven Lodge #25. Most important to him, however, was spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a dedicated family man, and he will be missed by all.
Beside his wife of 62 years, he is survived by his four children: Katherine (Kevin) Stevens of North Branford, Elizabeth (Rita) Roessler of Northford, Cynthia Roessler of North Branford, and Matthew (Laura) Roessler of Shelton. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Kayla, Katie, Sophie, Courtney, Eli, Hannah, Emily and Jacob.
Family and friends may visit the Keenan Funeral Home, 330 Notch Hill Road, North Branford on Wednesday, May 10, from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 11 at 11:00 am at St. Augustine Church in North Branford. Friends and family are asked to gather directly at church for Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North Branford Food Pantry or to a charity of your choice.
