Henry F. Scopp Sr.

Henry F Scopp, Sr, age 86, of Milford, entered into eternal rest on January 2, 2022.  He was born on December 4, 1935 in Bridgeport and was the son of the late Andrew J and Helen Tammany Scopp.  Mr Scopp was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia N Scopp as well as his brother, Rev. Andrew J Scopp and sister, Mary M Scopp. 

Upon graduating from Fairfield University in 1957, Henry made his living as a CPA. He was an active member of Devon Rotary for 55 years as well as being involved with Rotary International and the Rotary Youth Exchange Program including having hosted many foreign exchange students and also sending his daughter, Lisa, and grandson, Corey, abroad, to Japan and Australia respectively. Becoming a member of the Knights of Columbus was his most recent call to service.

A devout Catholic, Henry, alongside his wife, was very involved with St. Ann's Parish in Devon. Most notably, he assisted with the inception of the church as we know it today as well as being a lector for many years and singing in the choir.

Henry enjoyed traveling, most specifically to Cancun, Mexico, where he happily spent his birthday basking in the sun for the past 27 years. 

Mr Scopp leaves behind his four children, Geralyn Scopp Thayer, Henry Scopp Jr (Erica), Lisa Scopp (Sean Powers) and Rebecca Scopp Williamson. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Jared and Brandon Thayer,  Alyssa, Jenna, Ella and Lea Scopp, Tyler Scopp, and Corey Powers and one great grandchild, Jaxon Scopp, who affectionately called him "Poppie".

Family and friends may call on Sunday, January 9th from 2:00-4:00pm at Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven. Masks will be required. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 10th at 10am at St, Ann Church, 501 Naugatuck Avenue, Milford. Interment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Henry's memory to The Devon Rotary Foundation.
