Helen L. Danehy

Helen L. Danehy, age 98, passed away on July 9, 2018 surrounded by her family at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT. Beloved wife of Joseph Patrick Danehy, she was born in New Haven, CT on June 22, 1920 to the late Charles A. and Viola Mead Buchholz. 

Helen was a WWII Lieutenant Naval Nurse, Retired.  She served at the Naval hospitals in St. Albans, NY and Norfolk, VA and aboard the hospital ship U.S.S. Bountiful in the South Pacific.

She is survived by her three children, Patricia Danehy Andreucci (Anthony deceased 2004) of West Haven, Stephen J. (Kathleen) Danehy of Chico, CA, Laurie (Randy) Erickson of West Haven.  She is also survived by five grandchildren, Courtney (Brenton) Farrell, Meghan Danehy, Jessica (Matthew) D’Amato, Liana and Kara Erickson. Helen is predeceased by her two siblings, Dorothy Karrel and Charles A. Buckholz.  She will be sadly missed.

Family and Friends may visit Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven, CT Sunday, July 15, 2018 from 1 pm – 4 pm.  Funeral service will be held Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 28 Church Street, West Haven, CT at 11:30 am.  Interment to follow at Mt. Saint Peters Cemetery, 219 New Haven Avenue, Derby, CT.
