Harry Earl Brown, age 92, born on March 13, 1926, entered into eternal rest on January 1, 2019 with his family by his side. His parents were Earl Brown and Gertrude Dinneen.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946 and upon his return went on to graduate under the GI Bill from New Haven College, formerly known at that time as New Haven YMCA Junior College.
He was a long time employee, over 40 years, as an accountant with Safety Electric in their Hamden and Wallingford locations.
He served as a long time trustee of St. John Vianney Church. He also headed the Bingo Committee there for many years, volunteering his time each week at Bingo and attending to all of its finances.
He was a lifetime member of the Valley Yacht Club also serving as treasurer. He had many wonderful memories of his time on his boat there.
He had a love for the water and beach since a young boy growing up on Fairview Avenue. His most beloved hobby was his Lyman wooden boat which we all enjoyed many wonderful memories on. Each Spring he worked hard to preserve its beauty.
He leaves behind his 3 children, Sheila (Walter) DelMonte, Dennis (Nancy) Brown and Maureen (Edward) O’Connor.
He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Michael Brown, Katie (Eric) Limauro, Ryan O’Connor and Daniel O’Connor. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he was extremely proud of them all. He never missed any of their activities throughout the years.
He was predeceased by his wife, of 51 years, Catherine Reardon Brown, who passed on Christmas Day 2001 and he missed her every day since. She was the love of his life.
He was predeceased by his brother William Brown many years ago, and his life long friend Tom Kelly.
Family and friends may visit the Keenen Funeral Home, 238 Elm St. West Haven, Friday January 4, from 4- 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday January 5, at 9am at St. John Vianney Church, 300 Captain Thomas Blvd, West Haven. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven CT.
