Harold J. O’Connor “Harry”, age 82, of North Branford suddenly passed away surrounded by his family on July 17, 2018 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Gwen Francis O’Connor. He was born in New Haven, CT on September 14, 1935 to the late John P. and Hannah Leahy O’Connor.
He was a United States Air Force Reserve veteran. Harry held a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree along with a 6th year Certification in Administration and Supervision. He was a teacher and Library/Media Specialist at Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven, CT prior to retiring. Harry was a member of the East Haven Stoners Club and has been a parishioner of St. Augustine Church for over 50 years. He was an avid reader and history buff. Most of all he was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He was well liked in the community and always there to help family and friends.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his four children, Brian (Lisa) O’Connor and their children Sara and Brendan, of Tampa, FL, Douglas (Wendy) O’Connor and their children Sean, Ryan and Kevin of Media, PA, Kevin (Jola) O’Connor and their children Liam and Evan of Haddam, CT and Colleen (John) Wiesbrock and their children Jack and Chloe of Madison, CT, one brother, Raymond O’Connor of Orange, CT and one sister Mary Mongillo of Cheshire, CT. He is predeceased by his three brothers, John, Joseph and Robert O’Connor.
Family and friends may visit the Keenan Funeral Home, 330 Notch Hill Road, North Branford Friday evening, July 20th from 5 pm – 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at St. Augustine Church, 30 Caputo Road, North Branford at 10 am. Saturday July . 21st.
