Gordon C. Fairbanks

Gordon “Butch” C. Fairbanks, age 79, of West Haven passed away peacefully at home on Christmas Day, December 25, 2019.  He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret “Peggy” Oberempt.  He was born on May 7, 1940 in New Haven to the late Kenneth and Ethel Colberg Fairbanks.

Gordon was a United States Marine Veteran serving as an MP in Sasebo, Japan.  He worked for Frankson Fence Company in North Haven and Reliable Fence CT in West Haven for most of his life.  Gordon loved to visit the casino and was an avid Red Sox fan.  Most of all, he enjoyed his grandchildren and will be sadly missed.

He is survived by his three children, Michael (Karen) Oberempt of Milford, Kimberly (Robert) Nadal of West Haven and Marie Oberempt of West Haven.  He also leaves one brother, Dennis (Randi) Fairbanks of Cheshire, three sisters, Sandra (Les) Hamilton of New Hampshire, Linda (Bob) CoFrancesco of East Haven, Delores Dinuzzo of Milford and 2 loving grandchildren, RJ and Olivia Nadal of West Haven. He is predeceased by his brother Kenneth Robert Fairbanks and his sister Carol Corso.
