Tribute

Frederick W. Fox, 89 of North Branford CT. and formerly of Fairfield CT., entered eternal peace on Saturday May 19, 2018 at CT Hospice in Branford CT., with the love of his family by his side and Glenn Miller’s “Moonlight Serenade” playing. Fred was the husband of the late Donna L. (Hartson) Fox. He was born in Milwaukee WI. on October 17, 1928 the son of the late Frederick W. Fuchs and Evelyn (Wagner) Fuchs (He legally anglicized his name in 1950). He grew up in the rural town of Sussex WI., but commuted to Washington High School in Milwaukee, earning letters in football and track and was elected to the National Honor Society. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1946. Following his discharge, he enrolled at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, in February 1948 and graduated February 1952 with a major in Economics, Statistics and Finance. During college, he was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity and served as Vice President. He married Donna January 1951 and spent the next 7 years in the real estate department of Wisconsin Electric Power, before joining American Appraisal Co in Milwaukee for 14 years. After transferring to the east coast in 1964, he joined Stone & Webster Appraisal in 1974, serving as Vice President of real estate, until acquisitioned by Arthur Anderson in 1983. He joined Arthur Young in 1985 and retired from the merged Ernest & Young in November 1993. He subsequently had his own consulting firm Fox Valuation Services. He was a member of Greenfield Hill Congregational Church since 1964 where he served 6 years as a Deacon, 4 years on the Board of Trustees and several other committees. He is survived by his daughter Kathleen F. McMahon (Theodore) of Madison CT., son Craig R. Fox of Bend OR. and grandchildren Theodore F. McMahon (Alex) of West Hartford CT and Caitlin E. McMahon of Boston MA. He also leaves behind his brother John W. Fuchs (Audrey) of Wisconsin. Fred was a jogger and an avid downhill skier and member of the 80+ ski club. A Memorial Service will be held at Greenfield Hill Congregational Church 1045 Old Academy Rd. Fairfield CT. on Saturday May 26, 2018 at 11:00am. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family in the Church Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers donations in his name may be made to the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church Memorial Garden. Keenan Funeral Home, North Branford is handling the services for the family.
