Frances L. Tokarz, 92, of West Haven passed away peacefully at her home on July 20, 2018 after a brief illness. She was born on July 14, 1926 to the late Charles and Millie (Edwards) Cox, growing up in Lumberton, NC. Frances and her husband Edward T. Tokarz met while he was stationed at Maxton Army Air Base in North Carolina, later moved to New Haven after WW II and eventually settled in West Haven where she lived for over 60 years. She and Edward were married for 71 years. She leaves behind four (4) daughters: Carol DelVecchio (Richard) of Hamden, Beverly Ambrosi of Alton, Ill., Patti Stepleman (Len) of Delray Beach,FLA., and Cindy DeFranco (Mark ) of Cheshire, plus 5 loving grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Edward and her son-in-law Arthur Ambrosi.
Frances was very active her entire life. She especially enjoyed gardening and loved tending to her many flowers and vegetable garden. She enjoyed attending weekly bingo at St. Paul’s Church, and taking occasional trips to the casinos. She was an avid UCONN Women’s basketball fan, never missing a game on TV.
Family and friends may visit Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm St. West Haven CT 06516 on Wednesday July 25, 2018 from 9:30 AM –11:15 AM, with a Funeral service at 10:30 AM at Keenan. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Yale Smilow Cancer Center.
