Elizabeth M. McKiernan, age 84, of West Haven passed away peacefully at CT Hospice surrounded by her family on July 18, 2021. Bette was born on November 12, 1936, to the late Elmer and Mary (Vets) Warner. She was the beloved wife of John “Jack” McKiernan whom she was married to for 65 years.
Bette will be greatly missed by her children Patricia (Edward) DeCosta of Prospect; John (Karen) McKiernan of Meriden, Joseph (Brenda) McKiernan, Colleen Breton, Kathleen McKiernan, and Elizabeth McKiernan, all of West Haven. Also left to cherish her memory are her seven grandchildren, Kathryn (Robert) Marchitto, Christopher McKiernan, Tracy Standish, Matthew Breton, Shelby DerHovanesian, Joseph Angle, and Francis McKiernan, and her great grandchild, Brody Marchitto. She also leaves her sister and best friend Mary-Lou Warner, of West Haven.
Elizabeth, or Bette as everyone knew her, was born and raised in the Fair Haven section of New Haven. She attended Lovell School and Wilbur Cross High School. She loved to dance and attended the Americana Studio and Madame Annette's Select School of Dancing. For a time, she owned and operated the Cameo Dance School on State Street in New Haven. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.
Family and friends may visit Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven, CT, on Thursday, July 22, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow.
