Eileen D. McGuinness, age 92, lifelong resident of Washington Manor Avenue in West Haven, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph D. McGuinness, and daughter to the late James J. Doody and Mae (Card) Doody.
Eileen was a graduate of West Haven High School, class of 1946. She worked for The Bilco Company as a customer service representative and retired after 30 years of employment. Eileen was a lifelong parishioner of St. Lawrence Church in West Haven, attended St. Lawrence School, and was a member of the church’s St. Theresa Guild. She was a member of the Columbian Ladies of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed bingo at the Italian-American Club. Eileen loved driving, taking road trips and enjoyed the West Haven beach and boardwalk. Eileen always made time for her family. She was a very devoted mother and grandmother, and never missed her grandsons’ sporting events or school functions.
Eileen is survived by her daughter, Patricia DeAngelo of West Haven (formerly of Hamden), two grandsons, Michael (Juliana) DeAngelo and Joseph DeAngelo, and a great granddaughter, Isabel DeAngelo. In addition to her husband, Eileen was predeceased by her daughter, Kathleen McGuinness, two brothers, James J. Doody Jr., and George F. Doody.
Family and friends may visit Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm St, West Haven, CT on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. In light of the current pandemic, facial coverings and 6 foot social distancing will be required. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 207 Main St, West Haven, CT at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery, 280 Derby Ave, West Haven, CT.
