Edward T. Smullen

Edward T. Smullen, 99, of Milford passed away surrounded by his family on July 23, 2017 at his home in East Haven. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Guarnieri) Smullen. Ed was born in New Haven on November 14, 1917 to the late Maurice and Elizabeth (Seery) Smullen.

Ed was a 1935 graduate of West Haven High School. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the Army from 1942-1945. Ed was stationed in North Africa and was part of the 5th Army, and was involved in three invasions. He was awarded five Battle Stars and a Pressed Unit Citation.  Ed was very proud of his service record. After the war, he worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance for 14 years, and as a furniture salesman for over 15 years.

Ed is survived by his two sons, Thomas (Carol Paige) Smullen of East Haven, and Steven (Donna) Smullen of West Haven. He is survived by his four grandchildren: William, Kelli, Sean, and Amy. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren: Antoinette, Annabella, Nicholas, Alexander, Joey, Juliana, and Avery.

Family and friends are invited to visit the Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven on Friday July 28, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am at St. Agnes Church in Milford, followed by a burial in Kings Highway Cemetery with full military honors.
