Donald F. Ahern

Donald F. Ahern, of West Haven CT entered into eternal rest on June 10, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.  Born May 17, 1927 in New Haven CT to Anna and James Ahern, he was predeceased by his wife, Theodora Cass Ahern, son, Daniel James Ahern, his brother Father John Ahern and sisters, Julia , Vera, Peg, Rita and Jeanne.   He leaves behind his daughters, Doreen Ahern, Patricia Potter (Roy)  and Kathleen Krayer (Chris).  His grandchildren, Raleigh,  Richard, Savannah, Danielle, Cassandra and Ryan , his great grand children , Will, Liliana and Oliver, as well as,  many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved spending time with. 

Donald was an Army veteran of the Korean war, and was a supporter of the West Haven VA, for which he was so overjoyed and thankful for the wonderful care they gave him. He was a dedicated Red Sox fan and proud of his Irish heritage. He was a talented drummer, he played with the Navels at Savin Rock Festivals, Tommy Rider at Randal's and any chance he got to play the drums with any band who would let him play.  He frequented  the boardwalk beach in West Haven  with his many friends , who nicknamed him "sticks"   Sometimes referred to as the Mayor, he was a regular at many area restaurants,  Savin Rock Roasting, Duffy's , Gabrielle's where he loved to catch up with the staff and many friends he would bump into. 

Family and friends may visit Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 from 4-7pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday June 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., Our Lady of Victory Church, 300 Captain Thomas Blvd. West Haven.
