Deborah Shailor

Deborah F. Shailor, age 74, of West Haven passed away peacefully on December 24, 2018 at Connecticut Hospice.  She was born on March 15, 1944 in New Haven, Connecticut to the late Samuel and Catherine Lynch Freed. She is survived by her daughter Kimberly (Robert) McGinnis of Milford, her two grandchildren Robert McGinnis Jr. and Hailey McGinnis who were her pride and joy both of Milford, her sister Joan (Lou) LaFontaine of Hobe Sound, FL, Sister-In-Law Jean Freed of Nantucket, MA and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her two brothers, Richard and John Freed.

Deborah loved to dance and appeared on American Bandstand with Dick Clark in the 1950’s. She was often found at Savin Rock teaching line dancing on the boardwalk, walking with her family, or tanning by the water line. She loved the beaches of West Haven, vacationing in Florida, and the time she spent in bowling leagues. She retired after almost 20 years from the Regional Water Authority in New Haven.  Deborah was an amazing mom, nanny, sister, aunt and friend.

The family would like to thank Connecticut Hospice and Saint Raphael Hospital for the comfort they offered to Deborah, her family and visitors during her final weeks.

Family and friends may visit Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven, CT Friday, January 11, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Our Lady of Victory Church, 600 Jones Hill Road, West Haven at 9 a.m.  Interment to follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery.  To leave an online condolence or tribute, please visit www.keenanfuneral home.com.
