Bridget “Bridie” Comfort, age 85, of West Haven passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018 surrounded by her family and loving staff at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Comfort. She was born in New Market County Cork, Ireland on August 18, 1933 to the late James and Mary (O’Connor) O’Sullivan. Bridie moved to the United States from Ireland at the age of 19. She was employed as an Au Pair and worked at Friendly’s Ice Cream in Milford retiring after 25 years. Bridie loved tag sales, the casino and playing Bingo. She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting but her true joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by one daughter Deborah (Joseph) Lanci of West Haven, four grandchildren, Kara, Kenneth, Kirsten and Autumn and two great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Peyton. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Karla Boutin of West Haven, Niece Sheila O’Sullivan of New Hampshire, sister Kathleen McGonigle of England as well as many other cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. She is predeceased by her son Kenneth and siblings Jerry and Joanie. Special thanks to the Clearys and Peggy Staiano for their unconditional friendship.
