Brenda Lee Esposito, age 63, of New Haven, passed peacefully April 26, 2021 after a valiant battle with brain cancer.
Brenda was born November 24, 1957. She is survived by her parents Anne and John DeFrank of West Haven, her ex-husband James Brown of Hamden, two children Julian (Pilar) Brown of Hamden, and Jasmine Brown of Hamden, her two sisters Gail Esposito of West Haven and Sheryl Phillips of Hamden, and her three brothers Greg (Elaine) Mitchell of Clinton, Wayne (Kimberly) Mitchell of Milford, and Dennis Mitchell of Arizona, several nieces and nephew, and her loving dog Kiki.
Brenda was a graduate of Richard C. Lee High School, class of 1975. She later graduated from South Central Community College with an Associate’s degree in Human Services, and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of New Haven.
Brenda was a high honors student and star basketball player, in addition to being an accomplished trumpet player. She was active in several school committees and community programs.
She worked over 20 years at the post office as a letter carrier. In her spare time she enjoyed going to the casino, attending concerts, and meeting her favorite celebrities. Brenda was a Chicago Bears superfan and an all around football fanatic. She took pride in showing her purple and gold Lee High colors with her fellow alumni.
The family would like to express gratitude for the nurses and staff at Hospice, Gaylord, and Yale. Special thank you to her nurses Michelle and Pin-don, her homecare aids Nadine and Sandra, and her oncologist Dr. Blondin.
Funeral services will be held on May 2nd, at Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm St, West Haven, CT 06516 between the hours of 1 pm and 4 pm.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers will be gifted to the Yale Cancer Center.
