Barbara Jean Bard Wilson, 94, of Guilford, CT and Indianapolis, IN passed away unexpectedly but quietly on Sunday November 22, 2020.
Barbara was born in Indianapolis on December 24th, 1925 to the late Genevieve (Holmes) and Myron Bard. She was a proud graduate of Broad Ripple High School and Butler University, where she was also a Delta Gamma. In June of 1955, she married Gauntlett M (Jack) Wilson on Butler’s campus and together they went on to build a home and raise their son. They were married 52 years before Jack’s passing in 2007.
Barbara was a devoted mother, a diehard dog lover, a voracious reader and longtime member of the Indianapolis Garden Club. She spent most of her life in Indy; but soon after the passing of her husband, she moved to Guilford to be close to her son and his family. She took great pleasure in the adventures and accomplishments of her two grandchildren. Barbara is survived by her son Thomas and his wife Caroline (Eppich) Wilson; and her two grandchildren Nathan and Genevieve Wilson.
Memorial services will be private at this time and arrangements are being entrusted to Keenan Funeral Home in North Branford, CT. Interment will be at a later date at Crown Hill Cemetery in Barbara’s hometown of Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis National Research Foundation (curearthritis.org) or to Pets For The Elderly (petsfortheelderly.org).
