Barbara Cullen Quinn

Barbara (Cullen) Quinn, 95, of West Haven, passed away on Sunday September 24, 2017 peacefully at her home.  Barbara was born on August 5, 1922 in Springfield Mass., to the late Frederick and Gertrude (Dowd) Cullen. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Walter R. Quinn.

She was employed by the Milford Jai Alai for many years as a box office clerk until its closure. Barbara was very active in her community all throughout her life after settling in West Haven.  She was named The Co-Irish Person of the Year in 1998 and also received an appreciation award for being a part of the St. Patrick’s Day parade committee for so many years.  Barbara was also a member of The Colombian Ladies, The West Haven Elks Lodge, and was a West Haven Irish American Club Parade Marshal.  Barbara was known to many as “Mama Q” and will certainly be remembered for her love of her heritage, community, and family.

Barbara is survived by her four children, daughter; Kathleen (Robert) Seneca with whom she resided, daughter; Barbara (Dennis) McBride, son; William "Bill" (Barbara) Quinn and daughter; Maryellen “Emma” Quinn.  She also leaves behind her grandchildren; Caitlin, Kevin, Matthew, Mallory, and Kendra.  Barbara passed just days before the anticipated birth of her first great-grandchild whom she would have adored. She was predeceased by her brother William Cullen and her grandson Andrew Einck.

Family and friends are welcomed to gather for a graveside service on Saturday September 30, 2017 at 11am at St Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven.  Everyone is asked to gather directly at the cemetery office before the service. There will be no calling hours. 

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Barbara’s grandson Andrew Einck to, The Shriners Hospital, 2425 Stockton Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95817.
