Antonio M Gayoso

October 9, 1923 ~ April 25, 2018 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Tribute

It is with great sadness that the family of Antonio Gayoso announces his passing after a brief illness on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the age of 94.

Antonio will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Emelina, and his daughters, Marta and Alina (Angel) Cobian. Antonio was predeceased by his brother Vicente and sister Rosa.

Born in Havana Cuba, Antonio attended Colegio Instituto la Vibora. Antonio emigrated to the United States in 1962 with his family and was a  resident of West Haven, Ct. He was an Office Manager at the Stop and Shop company before his retirement after many years of service.

Antonio loved the St Louis Cardinals baseball team. He became a staunch fan in 1934 as a young man, when the Cardinals would come to Cuba for spring training. Never missing a televised game, he was thrilled to see them play in person at Busch Stadium with his daughter, Alina. He also loved old classic movies and was an expert on the great films, actors, history and trivia. Speaking of trivia, Jeopardy was also a favorite. Even in his later days he would ask to have the channel changed so that he could watch, and correctly answer, as soon as it came on the screen.

The family wishes to thank Doctors Peter Juergensen, Lynda Rosefelo, Johana Lasala, Costin Ionescu, Sreedhar Gottiparthy and their staffs as well as the doctors and nurses of Yale New Haven Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Antonio’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
