Alfred Triana of West Haven passed away peacefully on August 28, 2023 surrounded by his family. Al was born in New Haven on April 11, 1940, the only child of Alfred and Jennie (Esposito) Triana. A lifelong resident of West Haven, he graduated from West Haven High School in 1958. After high school, he served in the Navy aboard the carrier USS Essex until 1962. Following the Navy, he worked for New Haven Airways at Tweed New Haven Airport. He married Ellen (McKeown) Triana in 1965 and they celebrated 58 years of marriage in May. Alfred later worked at SNET for about 25 years and at Yale until 2006.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his three children, John Triana (Kimberly), Kristin Kirck (Stephen), and Tricia Coppola (Robert). He is also survived by his six cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Triana, Brendan Kirck, Elizabeth Triana, Allyson Kirck, Justin Coppola, and Andrew Coppola.
Al had a deep devotion to his family. He was ever-present at school events, picnics, parties, weddings, camping, and of course, athletic events. If there was a grandchild involved in a contest, you could guarantee that he would be in the bleachers. He was a diehard fan of the Yankees, Giants, and UConn Women’s Basketball team, having attended numerous Final Fours through the years. Al also loved spending time with many friends from his decades living in West Haven, 50 years as a parishioner at Our Lady of Victory, and former colleagues from SNET and Yale.
