Victoria Laura Terrell

May 2, 1925 ~ March 21, 2017 (age 91) 91 Years Old
Laura joined the angel and saints peacefully after a brief illness on March 20, 2017. Laura will always be remembered for her quick wit, generosity , and the ability to view all in a positive light. She saw the good in everyone and had a joke for every occasion. Generous and selfless, Laura had a rare gift of knowing and sharing unconditional love. She loved children, animals, music, tag sales and Kettle Corn! Laura was raised in West Haven, CT where her family owned the Sea Grill Restaurant. Her fondness and memories of Savin Rock followed her throughout her life. She also resided in New Haven, Hamden, North Branford, Branford, and finally Moodus. She spent her last few years being lovingly cared for by the staff at Chestelm Health and Rehab. Her room there was a hub of activity and she made sure there was candy available at all times. Laura retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. She spent her retirement years volunteering for the Ladies Guild at St. Therese Church. Thursdays with the Ladies in the craft group was one of her favorite times. She so enjoyed making things and helping to run the annual Christmas Fair. Laura is predeceased by her parents, Leon Kowalski and Helen Rubaszewicz, as well her her siblings, Carl, Gene, Henry and Leo Kowalski, Clare Jablonowski, and Helena Meloy. A loving mother to Philip Czekala and Cynthia Czekala Deming and son-in-law Anthony Valentino; losing her leaves a hole in their hearts. “Antie Laura” will be missed my several nieces and nephews, especially Maryann Jablonowski of Albany, NY. Laura also had many friends that she continued to collect until her passing. She touched the lives of many with her smile and loving ways, and her passing leaves an emptiness that will be felt by all who knew her. Calling hours on Saturday, March 25 from 9:30 to 11:30am at Keenan Funeral Home, 330 Notch Hill Road, North Branford, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 12 noon at St. Therese Church, Leetes Island Road, Branford CT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the East Haddam Community Lions Club. To leave an online condolence or tribute please visit www.keenanfuneralhome.
