Theodora Ahern

Theodora "Dora" (Cass) Ahern, 88, of West Haven, beloved wife of Donald F. Ahern, passed away on Saturday May 27, 2017 at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT.  Dora was born in Derby on October 3, 1928 to the late N. John and Theodora (Schumacher) Cass.  Although raised in Seymour,  Dora was a longtime resident of West Haven where she raised her family with her husband.  Dora was an alumnus of the St. Raphael School of Nursing in New Haven where she obtained her bachelor's degree as a registered nurse.  She was then employed by the hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven on Private 6 as a head night nurse for over 40 years.  

Besides her husband Donald of 61 years, Dora is survived by her three children: Doreen Ann Ahern, Patricia Ahern Luby (Roy Potter), Kathleen Ahern Krayer (Chris), and her sister; Mary Cass Sekellick.  Dora also leaves her six grandchildren: Raleigh, Richard, Savannah, Danielle, Cassandra and Ryan.  Dora was predecessed by her son: Daniel J. Ahern, her two brothers; John and Joseph Cass, and her identical twin sister; Anna Cass Williamson.

Family and friends are welcomed to visit the Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven on Thursday June 1, 2017 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm.  The the funeral cortege will process from the funeral home on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 10:30am to Our Lady of Victory Church, 600 Jones Hill Road, West Haven where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Dora's memory may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 20 Batterson Park Road, Farmington, CT 06032.
