Lawrence Edward Ramstedt Sr. age 93 of West Haven passed away at home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of the late Regina (Barry) Ramstedt.  Lawrence was born in New Haven Connecticut on January 2, 1924 to the late Christian and Mary (Riley) Ramstedt.

Lawrence was a WWII veteran serving in the Navy.   After his Naval career he was employed as a Model Maker by Sargent Company in New Haven, retiring after 50 years.   He loved landscaping, carpentry and was very mechanically inclined.   He was a genuine sports enthusiast, cheering on the Giants, the Patriots, the Red Sox and Women’s UConn Basketball teams.  Most of all he was a loving Father who took pride in taking care of his family.

Lawrence is survived by his son Lawrence E. (Marie) Ramstedt Jr. of West Haven, two daughters Carol Murray of Pawcatuck and Janis Ramstedt of Hamden and also his six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  He is predeceased by a sister Mary Pasternak and two brothers Christian and Manuel Ramstedt.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 9 at Our Lady of Victory Church, 200 Jones Hill Road, West Haven at 11:00 am.  Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the church.  There are no calling hours.  Interment to follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery with full military honors.
