Katherine P. Heeran

Heeran, Katherine (Kitty) Prahovic 92, of West Haven passed away peacefully on March 11, 2017. She was born in Branford, CT on June 12, 1924, the daughter of Joseph & Antonia Lugar-Prahovic. She was the youngest of 7 children, she had 2 brothers and 4 sisters. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph Heeran Sr. in 1976, her parents, her sisters Anna Brannigan, Helen Rousseau, Mary Swirsky, and her brother Joseph Prahovic. Kitty is survived by her son Joseph Heeran Jr, daughter-in-law Virginia, daughter Patricia Taylor, son-in-law Martin, daughter Bernadette Feltham, sister Sophie Cimino, brother Frank Prahovic, sister-in-law Kathlene McGovern, 10 grandchildren: Patrick (Jessica) Heeran, Eileen (Chris) Bonaiuto, Christopher (Stephanie) Heeran, Kerry (Chris) Cwilka, Brian (Danielle) Heeran, Margaret Heeran, Maureen Heeran, Colin Taylor, Brad Taylor & Eric Feltham, 12 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces & nephews. Kitty graduated from Branford High School in 1942. She was a proud member of the East Haven Irish Community Center, and former president Women’s Auxiliary of the New Haven Ancient Order of the Hibernian’s during the 1960’s. She also worked for Yellow Freight and Adley Express for over 30 years. Kitty loved her family more than anything and was known for always having pictures to show off her grandchildren to whoever she was visiting. Visitation will be Sunday, March 19 from 1:00pm- 4:00pm at Keenan Funeral Home in West Haven.
