Mr Sebastian and I started Hopkins together in the fall of 2016, he a new advisor and teacher and me a new student. As my advisor, Mr Sebastian and I shared a memorable experience together during that year. Mr Sebastian mentored me in every way possible, athletics, academics and socially. He really cared about me and led me through my first year with confidence and kindness. Mr Sebastian was one of my best friends. He made sure I stayed on my grades and worked hard in school. He helped me if I had a problem and he was always the one to turn to if I needed help. I feel honored that Mr Sebastian chose to spend the time he had with me. I am so sorry for your loss.

Hello, To all of Jordan's Family and Friends. I never knew this young man but am very saddened at the loss of such a beloved person. I know all to well what is is to lose someone you love because I lost my hero on July 5th of this year! I want to just say my heart goes out to all of you and I hope that in time you will try to remember ALL he has left you and help you to smile again as I think he may have wanted you to! He had a beautiful smile just as my mom, my dad and my two brother's did and although I do not know you I feel as though we share a bond!
May God Bless All of You who love this young man in your hearts!

Dear Mr. Sebastian and Ms, Johnston and Family,

Mr. Sebastian, or as you know him, Jordan, was my basketball coach and buddy advisor at Hopkins. That meant that I could (and often did) sit at his table during lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays. While the anecdotes he shared with us were funny and interesting, what really made an impact on me was the time I spent with him as my basketball coach last winter.

Mr. Sebastian’s practices mainly consisted of practicing plays over and over again until we could run them correctly, and more importantly, confidently. That was Mr. Sebastian’s whole philosophy: to live with confidence in everything we do. Whenever I made a mistake on the court, he always asked why it happened. My answer was usually that I was jittery, or nervous, or some version of not feeling confident. He always boosted me up, pushing me to learn to trust myself on the court. I didn’t know it at the time, but his coaching gradually increased my sense of comfort and confidence. Nowadays, I find myself less nervous whenever I step foot on that court. Instead of waiting, running around and screaming my head off for the ball, I just go and take it. I jump as high as I can for rebounds and get more steals than I ever thought I was capable of. More importantly, Mr. Sebastian cared about me and my well-being past the minutes I spent at practice and in games. He was a great mentor, teacher, friend, and coach.

I will miss him, but I am thankful that I had a chance to have him in my life. I am sorry for your loss. Whenever I step foot on a court, I will carry his lessons with me.

Sincerely,
Jacob Ragaza
